Shaw Mechanical wins design-build contract for Rollins College renovation
ORLANDO, Fla., July 28, 2008 — The special projects division of Shaw Mechanical Services LLC announced today it secured a $300,000 design-build contract for the renovation of three dormitories at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. Under contract with Wharton-Smith Inc. of Sanford, Fla., Shaw Mechanical is handling upgrades and replacements of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems including new chilled water fan coils, chilled water piping and condensate for Pugsley, Lyman and Gale Halls which contain 64 dormitory rooms and associated laundry, kitchen and common spaces.
The campus has remained open for summer classes during the renovation of the dorms. Construction is planned for completion in time for the fall semester.
This is Shaw Mechanical’s second contract in as many years with Wharton-Smith for a summer renovation project at Rollins College. In summer 2007, the team completed the total renovation and remodel of Ward Hall, a dormitory, in just eight weeks.
